Iconsole map my route3/16/2024 ![]() and it's working!! lol The usb options are not grayed out anymore, I can use my usb mouse in both fedora and vbox windows without needing to capture it for vbox. This morning I REMOVED the line added to the fstab file, rebooted and started vbox. lol I commented (#) the line I added in the fstab. the usb options on the vbox window reamained grayed out. then my usb mouse stopped working in both fedora and vbox, my USB HD unmounted itself from fedora and loaded into windows. I started virtualbox and I got a msg warning about a file system(my usb hd) being mounted on a different route or something. I edited the fstab file and added the mentioned line: "none /sys/bus/usb/drivers usbfs devgid=503,devmode=664 0 0" (I changed 503 to 501) then I rebooted the system. I added my fedora user to the group vboxusers (gid 501). ![]() I did lsusb as root, and I changed permission to some then to all, but that did NOT work. Restart / or start virtualbox and your usb device should be accessible." (where bus is the bus id, id is the device id) lsusb (and find the particular usb device "the following should solve the problem without requiring to run VirtualBox as root:ġ. but now it's working I dont know why exactly but I'll tell you what I did: ![]() I'm still relatively new to linux I'm far from being an advanced user lol and I was reading the others possible solutions, I dont want to mess around editing files too much because I dont want to mess my system and make matters worst lol. Well it appears that my system started to work fine since this morning, I'm using fedora 12 and installed yesterday the latest virtualbox version (3.1.2) downloaded from its website, I'm running a winXP pro in virtual box, and like many I had the same issues with the USB's :) Just make sure you write a correct number after "devgid=" in step 3, otherwise I did precisely what he says and there was no problem.ĮDIT: I forgot to mention that I restarted the PC before step 5 just to be sure :) (no les needed) and it worked very well for me. ![]() None /sys/bus/usb/drivers usbfs devgid=503,devmode=664 0 0 I've followed just this zaog's suggestion:Ģ - locate file usbfs: in my case is /sys/bus/usb/drivers (I suggest to find the file with a usb device inserted ģ - modify file /etc/fstab inserting a line containing the right path and the number corresponding the "usb" group : If only the permissions could be resolved, this is a sweet app. I have followed zaog's suggestion and Fedora 9 (x86_64) seems to have no les file to edit as lemaymd suggested a year ago. They are there and Windows does its USB found sounds when I log on as root. However, the USB icon on the bottom of the Windows session states that there are no USB devices. The "Box" sees the USB devices and lists them nicely. None /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=508,devmode=664 0 0Īnd added my user to the vboxusers group, but that didn't help either.Īfter much research, and yes.some RTFM, I have not been successful in getting USB devices up in my Windows XP session. I also added the following to /etc/fstab: Interface: IConsole printf bus/usb/%%03i/%%03i $$ Not permitted to open the USB device, check usbfs options. However, I can't get any USB devices to connect to it unless I manually do a chmod -R 777 /proc/bus/usb beforehand. I've been using VirtualBox on Fedora 7 running a Windows XP guest quite successfully for a little while now.
